University of Karachi

University of Karachi is a major general university of Sindh province and also in Pakistan. It contributed great in the educational phase of Pakistan. It is first university of Pakistan that come to existence after the participation of sub-continent.

Introduction of University of Karachi

Initially, the university was housed in small buildings adjacent to the Civil Hospital. However, due to rapid expansion, it became clear that the existing space was inadequate for its needs. Additionally, the congested and polluted environment was not conducive to higher education and research. Consequently, a plot of 1,279 acres was acquired on Country Club Road (now University Road), and on January 18, 1960, the university moved to its new campus. This marked the beginning of a new phase in the university’s history. The day is still commemorated by various alumni associations and the university administration together.

Karachi University Offering Programs

Karachi University, the largest in the country, has eight faculties affiliated with local colleges. It offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, M.Phil., and Ph.D. programs in Arts, Science, Pharmacy, Management, and Islamic Learning, while Medicine, Law, and Education manage examinations for their colleges. Research programs for M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees are available across all faculties.
